Sewer charges are billed on a quarterly basis. These charges are assessed for the quarter just completed as indicated below:
Quarter | Begin/End Date | Invoices Sent By | Payment Due Date |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Jan 1 - March 31 | April 1 | April 30th |
2 | April 1 - June 30th | July 1 | July 31st |
3 | July 1 - Sept. 30th | October 1 | October 31st |
4 | Oct 1 - Dec. 31st | January 1 | January 31st |
Late fees are calculated at 10% of your quarter’s sewer charge (levied one time per quarter) and interest is 1.5% of your total outstanding sewer and penalty (assessed monthly).
NLCA sends monthly past-due invoices on delinquent accounts. We also send written notifications to customers when balances reach specific amounts alerting the property owner of potential legal measures the Authority utilizes in order to collect on those accounts.
NLCA policy authorizes the following legal procedures when an account balance reaches the following amounts:
$500 – lien placed on the property
$3,000 – sheriff sale
We understand special circumstances arise that create financial hardships. We recommend contacting our office in these instances to setup a payment plan agreement. A payment plan agreement is an arrangement between yourself and the Authority stating that you will remit funds on a monthly basis (amount is determined by what you can comfortably afford but must be no less than $100/month). Making an agreement not only informs us of your desire to make your account current; we also agree to waive additional penalty and interest from being assessed if you have not previously defaulted on an agreement with us. Additionally, some of our customers prefer to send smaller payments monthly to avoid paying the entire amount at one time.
We encourage our customers to use online payments!
